Silverware, optional.

Sopa* is one thing my kids BOTH love. If its gonna hit the table there better be plenty. Its delicous and easy to make, and they eat a ton of it. Tonight though, was especially entertaining. Both of my boys routinely use their spoons and forks. Tonight though, Carlos thought he would use his tiny fingers to poke the tiny noodles and get them stuck on the tip and gobble them up. After a few minutes of this Julian decided to see if he could do it, he didn't have as much success with his larger fingers. One slip of a noodle onto his lap and that game was done for him. He can't stand his clothes to be dirty. But, Carlos continued. He had a fabulous time, hammed it up and showed off his noodles as I clicked my camera.

Sopa Recipe

Any cut of pork, we use country style ribs.

Steam the pork until it will fall apart easily being fork cut (about an hour - hour and a half on medium heat).
Fry a bit, just enough to begin to brown it, season as desired.

Chop 1/2 large onion, set aside
Open 1 can tomato sauce, set aside

In a large pan fry some shell noodles until golden brown (Throw them in the oil dry, straight from the package and fry them).

Once golden brown add onions, continue frying for about 1 min, add meat, toss in tomato sauce and fill pan with water. Boil until noodles are done. Enjoy with tortillas, if you want. You can even use silverware, if you so desire.
