Christmas Day

We had a good Christmas despite all the bumps in the road. Poor Carol came over for our annual Christmas Breakfast and gift exchange and on the way was stuck in the slushiest snow that has ever graced our city. Two nice guys pushed her out though and on the way here she got a flat tire. :( What a Christmas gift, huh? Her day didn't get any worse than that, but really, not better either. She decided to stay home and take a nice Christmas nap and have a nice Christmas pizza -- even though we offered to pick her up and bring her back here. Carol, I hope your Christmas Saturday with your parents is flawless.

I got up at 6 am and started our turkey with the hope that it would be done early enough to leave my oven free for other things that needed cooking. Mission accomplished! Everything was prepped early in the day or the day before so there wasn't a lot of time spent in the kitchen on Christmas.

Half my family couldn't make it out due to the bad weather. We missed them but had a good day and a ton of leftovers (yay no cooking this weekend!). I had some friends come by too which added to the holiday cheer.

Julian woke up first, didn't seem overly excited, I believe he was still tired. But he was happy and gave me a big hug. He got just what he wanted! Or at least that is what he told me. The Santa stuff and the chairs we got them were not wrapped. Next Carlos wandered out, still half asleep. He went to the dog we got them, Biscuit the fur real friend, and started to quietly bark at it . LOL They were contenet to go through their stockings and play with Biscuit while I cooked and then we all ate. After breakfast we opened our gifts.

I'm not sure what Julian was mosted excited about, he seemed confused by the Mario Kart, as though we gave him the but only the steering wheel .. he thought we had to download stuff to play it. But he really has been playing that most so I think that was his favorite. Carlos, his favorite was a blanket made by Stephanie. He played peek a boo with it, carried it around for a while and then at bed time he got his 'nigh nigh' (his bed time blanket) and then went to get his new one too. He was wrapped up in his new one and holding his other one LOL

Julian got us some really neat gifts. Carol got a monkey stamp, chip clips, strawberry body butter and a small ceramic-like ring box (think dollar store). All thoughtful gifts. I got a bracelet, chip clips (yah Carol, I got some too), a crossword book, a coupon wallet, pot holders and a cool (everyone needs one) organizational calendar. Bruno got a set of screwdrivers, work gloves, a virgin Mary crystal (again think dollar store), a tape measure and a wrench. He also got him a nice box for the dresser to store things in (like wallet, keys, watch, whatever). Julian picked out all gifts by himself .. he got all but the box for daddy while shopping with my mom.

I was so tired last night that I was out like a light by 9:30. Carlos was out by about 9:15 and J before that. Long day, but fun. Great times with friends and family.

Photos and videos of the day will be posted on my dropshots, www.dropshots.com/missew if you don't have the password you can email me for it.
